Through the project “Fiscal education of the youth”, the high school students and the university students, third year in a row, have the opportunity to receive a clearer picture about what the tax represents and what are the social benefits of paying taxes. The project is conducted within the educational system as the most competent and most appropriate segment of the society for the education and upbringing of the youth. The tax education should affect not only the increasing of awareness of the youth for the need of paying taxes, but also for their introduction with the basic rights and civil duties which they have as taxpayers. Since the beginning in 2010, in particular two school years, in which the project “Fiscal education of the youth” is implemented, the Public Revenue Office held over 900 trainings in the high schools and faculties across Macedonia...

Starting from 2013, the VAT taxpayers have legal obligation to submit the VAT returns and the tax balance sheets stipulated by the Profit Tax Law to the Public Revenue Office electronically through the e-Tax system (Tax Procedure Law “Official Gazette of RM”, no. 84/12). The legal deadline for mandatory submitting of the tax returns through https://etax-fl.ujp.gov.mk for monthly VAT taxpayers is 1st of January 2013, as for the quarterly VAT taxpayers the deadline is 1st of July 2013. Due to timely compliance with the new legal obligations, the PRO recommends the VAT taxpayers not to wait the final deadline and to use the period October - December for adaptation and using of the benefits of the electronic communication and submitting of tax returns and other forms to the PRO.

Skopje - In cooperation with the Instrument for technical assistance and exchange of information - TAIEX, in the period from 17 to 19 October 2012 in the Contact Center of the PRO was held an Expert Mission on "Enforced collection of debts incurred in other EU countries." The topics were organizational structure and responsibilities of the Sector for enforced collection of the PRO, as well as the European Union Council Directive on mutual assistance in the recovery of claims relating to certain levies, duties, taxes and other measures…

In the period from 17th to 21st of September 2012, the Public Revenue Office was visited by the representatives from the Tax Administration of the Republic of Turkey. The Turkish delegation, composed of three members, had several meetings with the management of the PRO on which the main topics of interest were the new trends in the tax administration, the tax legislation in the Republic of Macedonia, the strategy of control and the types of services provided to taxpayers. During the visit, the guests had the opportunity to attend and to be familiarized with the working process and the way of organization of the Contact Center and the Regional Office Bitola.

Skopje - from 26-28 January 2012, high management representatives from the Albanian Tax Administration, led by the General Director Mr. Gazmir Spahija have been on a working visit in the premises of the PRO. In the past years, the cooperation between the Macedonian and Albanian tax authorities has been intensified through the creation of common policies and taking concrete operational measures for high-risk companies that gravitate in the markets of the two neighboring countries.
