Skopje - The Tax Academy of the Public Revenue Office (PRO), in cooperation with the international development organisation, Crown Agents, on the 29th and 30th of November 2012 held an international workshop on "Global Trends in Taxation of the Construction Industry". The workshop involved representatives from 7 regional tax administrations, along with representatives of relevant international organizations in the field of taxes: International Monetary Fund (IMF), Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), EU DG TAXUD, the UK tax administration (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) and Crown Agents.

Over the 2 days, the workshop has had presentations from the IMF, IOTA, EU, PRO, Slovenian tax administration and HMRC. It has also debated 2 case studies prepared by the PRO to discuss and share experiences on combating tax fraud in the construction industry. The workshop will conclude with a discussion panel and reach recommendations for the IMF, IOTA, EU and the regional tax administrations in attendance to take forward to assist countries to maximize their tax collection from the construction industry in the future.
