OHRID - A select group of 32 delegates from 19 IOTA member tax administrations attended the IOTA workshop on Tax Havens on 31 May - 2 June 2010 in the idyllic surroundings of Ohrid, Macedonia.

The audience listened to a number of excellent presentations from both the OECD and delegates that addressed both current and future concerns of how tax havens should be managed; examining what changes had taken place over the last twelve months, what schemes taxpayers were using to avoid or evade payment of tax, how tax administrations could encourage users of tax havens to disclose their tax affairs voluntarily and how the proposed Peer Review process will operate.

Delegates also had the opportunity to discuss these issues and more during discussion group and networking sessions that complemented the presentations.

Just to ensure that the message to taxpayers that "they could no longer hide their resources from the tax administrations" got through, an investigative journalist and camera crew were on hand to record interviews with delegates and representatives from IOTA and the OECD for a local Macedonian TV broadcast.
