From 16 to 19 December 2009, within the framework of strengthening the international cooperation with the countries of the region, at the invitation of the Public Revenue Office, the highest management of the Tax Administration from Republic of Turkey visited Macedonia.

During the three day visit, the five-member Turkish delegation, headed by Director Mr. Mehmet Cilci, had a possibility to get acquainted with the work and the activities of the Macedonian Tax Administration and on the working meetings to exchange experience with the Macedonian colleagues in the area of:

• Tax collection
• Strategic goals
• New methods of control of the Tax Inspectorate
• Taxpayers services

Similarly, one of the topics on which there was discussion was how the national economy of both countries confronts with the effects of the world economic crisis as well as the challenge and the measures for implementation of the strategic plans, in case of reduced economic activities.

On the meeting it was emphasized the necessity of further strengthening the cooperation between the Tax Administrations of Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Turkey, as one of the most experienced tax administrations in Europe with eight century tradition.
